Notary Public – Beckenham – Bromley
Following the retirement of our previous Notary Public, Adrian Wilson, we are pleased that Michael North has joined us so we can offer this service once again. Michael is a lawyer with over 40 years’ experience, and has been regularly featured in Chambers Guide to the Legal Profession. He has been a qualified notary for almost 30 years and is a member of the Notaries Society.
Have you received a document which you are required to sign for us abroad? Have you been asked to see a notary?
What a notary does?
A notaries primary function is to authenticate a wide variety of documents which can then be relied on in other countries.
He will need to be satisfied that you understand the contents of the document. If you are representing a company, he will also need to be sure that you have authority to sign.
You will need to provide evidence of your identity and address (e.g. your passport/driving licence and a recent utility bill). For a company it will also be necessary to make a search at the Companies Registry.
Documents may need to be sent to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (and sometimes to the Embassy of the country concerned) for further authentication (an apostille and sometimes legalisation) before they can be relied on abroad.
You can book an appointment to see the Notary at our the Beckenham Office (020 8402 7222). Out of office appointments can also be arranged in the Bromley and Orpington areas. Michael North is based in the office at 9-11 Rectory Road, Beckenham, Kent BR3 1JB, click here for further details.
Before the meeting you will be given an estimate. Fees start from £75 plus VAT (e.g. for certification of a copy of your passport). If more work is necessary (which may include the costs of further authentication or an out of office appointment) you will be informed before you ask us to proceed. Payment by cheque, bank transfer or cash will be requested at the meeting.
